The Magic Kingdom is an explosion of imagination, immersing Guests in the world of yesterday, tomorrow and fantasy. It overflows with music, lights, and color, with hidden surprises around every corner. This sensory overload is part of what makes the park so magical, but it can be a bit overwhelming too. Sometimes it’s nice to have a quiet moment to yourself, a place you can re-energize before diving back in for more. These spots can also serve as helpful reminder to slow down as you journey through the parks, allowing you to fully savor the experience.
Here are a few oases of calm located around the Magic Kingdom.
1. Pathway from Storybook Circus to Tomorrowland
Crowds can be one of the most overwhelming parts of the parks. Certain areas bottleneck with traffic, especially if you’re visiting during peak season. Luckily, there are some less known pathways through the park that provide a pleasant alternative.
The path connecting Tomorrowland to Storybook Circus is frequently ignored. It begins near the exit to Space Mountain and exits near the entrance to Goofy’s Barnstormer. The path takes you behind the Tomorrowland Speedway and even offers a view of the Walt Disney World Railroad. Time your walk just right, and you might even get to see the train passing by as you take your stroll.
2. Tom Sawyer Island
Tom Sawyer Island is often overlooked and so it remains a fantastic place to get away while staying inside the parks. There are caves, barrel bridges, and a military fort if you’re feeling adventurous, but there are also quiet paths through wooded areas, places to sit and relax, and you might even snag a rocking chair where you can while away the time.
3. Main Street Train Station Portico
Outside the Walt Disney World Train Station is a portico with benches that look out over Main Street USA, providing a perfect view of Cinderella Castle. It’s a great place to soak in the magic, while avoiding the stream of Guests that always crowd Main Street. However, it does get crowded during specific times of day. Guests flock to the spot to watch parades and fireworks, but during the rest of the day it stays fairly empty.
4. Cinderella’s Wishing Well
With such a gorgeous view, you’d think that Guests would constantly be visiting this location, especially couples looking for a romantic spot, but the truth is the area is rarely crowded. To find it, head to the main hub, go past the entrance to Tomorrowland and take the next path on the right side. Another small path will go off to the left near Cosmic Ray’s Cafe, leading you to the Wishing Well. There are benches at the spot, along with plenty of greenery. Make sure to take a look at the carvings around the base of the well too.
5. The Alley By Uptown Jewelers
With as hectic as things get on Main Street USA, it’s hard to believe that anywhere would offer a bit of reprieve, but this spot does just that. As you walk down Main Street, this little road intersects with it. If you are facing the castle it is on the right side of the street. There is an entrance to the Uptown Jewelers shop, and typically a silhouette artist at work, but not much else. A few benches offer a place to sit down and soak in the beautiful architecture.
