It's safe to say he's dominated the boxing world throughout his career. Though there have been talks of a fight with Conor McGregor, Mayweather is setting his sights on a different arena entirely. He wants to own an NBA franchise.

Mayweather met with Magic Johnson, who recently was named president of basketball operations for the Los Angeles Lakers. The meeting must have been invigorating because Mayweather took to Instagram soon after.

Just had a great meeting with @magicjohnson. It's about time for me to buy an NBA team. if you're ready to sell your NBA team, please get in touch with me. #TMT #Michigan #LivingLegends #Businessmen

It's unclear just how many NBA owners are looking to sell their team, and even fewer are probably trolling the depths of Instagram to find potential bidders, so hopefully, Mayweather has reached out in some other ways, too.

He is often spotted at Staples Center taking in Clippers or Lakers games. However, with just 30 teams in the league, it's tough to get in. The NBA is a wildly lucrative league, as well, with an international reach that helps boost revenue for all the teams involved.

The boxer doesn't have any experience owning a franchise, but he's certainly made some money off the NBA. Earlier this postseason he claimed to win $400,000 by betting on Isaiah Thomas and the Boston Celtics. Thomas and Mayweather have been friends for awhile, with Mayweather buying Thomas a new car for his birthday a couple years back.

Though he has a net worth of $400 million, Mayweather couldn't be the controlling owner. Most franchises sell in the neighborhood of a billion dollars. Steve Ballmer bought the Los Angeles Clippers for $2 billion in 2014. The Hawks were sold to an investment group for $850 million in 2015.

Perhaps Mayweather can leverage his connections into buying a piece of a team. He'd certainly be one of the most charismatic owners out there. But first, he needs to find someone willing to sell theirs, which is easier said than done.
