American singer-songwriter and performer P!nk will receive the Outstanding Contribution To Music Award at this year’s BRIT Awards.
She will be the first international artist to receive this award, after the BRITs committee decided to open up the award to all artists who have achieved success and longevity in the UK.
With a career spanning seven studio albums and one greatest hits album, P!nk has been setting the charts alight since her debut in 2000. The songstress has racked up two UK number one albums, three UK number one singles, and 32 top 40 singles, achieving over eight million sales in the UK, and over 60 million worldwide.
From ‘So What’ to ‘Try’, ‘Just Give Me A Reason’ to ‘What About Us’, P!nk has delivered countless tracks over the years which have become a staple part of our lives. Armed with powerhouse vocals, memorable lyrics and a captivating presence, her music speaks to people from across the globe.
About the award, P!nk said: “I am so honored to be recognized with the Outstanding Contribution To Music Award at the 2019 BRITs! Since the beginning of my career the British fans have been some of the most fierce and loyal in the world. I am humbled to receive this honor and be in the company of an illustrious group of British icons!”
BRITs Chairman and Chairman & CEO of Sony Music UK and Ireland Jason Iley added: “P!nk is a trailblazer, a phenomenally talented singer and songwriter, and truly one of the greatest artists of our time. It is a real pleasure to honour her at this year’s BRIT Awards with the Outstanding Contribution To Music Award. With her remarkable career spanning nearly 20 years, P!nk is one of the most successful artists in the world, consistently releasing multi-million-selling albums and selling out tours all over the globe. I am really excited to welcome her back to The BRITs and to recognise her prodigious success.”
To celebrate her incredible achievement, P!nk will accept an exclusive trophy designed by Sir David Adjaye OBE and will deliver a showstopping performance to close the evening’s events.
P!nk’s BRITs news comes just days after she received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame and announced details of her new single and album. The singer will be releasing ‘Walk Me Home’ in a few weeks, followed by her eighth album Hurts To Be Human in April.
P!nk will also be bringing her Beautiful Trauma World Tour to the UK in June, with shows in Cardiff, Glasgow, Liverpool and London.
The BRIT Awards 2019 take place on February 20 live from London’s O2 Arena.
