Sonya Deville received appreciation from LGBTQ organizations

Sonya Deville has been in the WWE for almost a decade. Initially, she took part in the 2015 Tough Enough show, which was a reality-type program to determine the next superstar. During an episode of the show, Deville opened up about her sexuality. Therefore, she became the company’s first wrestler ever to do so.

Previously, the 29-year-old superstar had revealed this was not intentional. Speaking on New Jersey’s 6ABC News, she thanked fans for their support and generosity. Moreover, the former tag team champion mentioned that she received appreciation from LGBTQ organizations for her brave move.

Despite not winning the competition, she managed to gain a contract. Deville would end up debuting on the main roster after only a year on NXT. She was introduced to the WWE Universe as part of the faction Absolution, alongside a returning Paige and Mandy Rose. Since then, the former MMA fighter has been a workhorse for the women’s division.
